Borrowing Mr. Kane’s Words of Libertarianism
O, planet Uranus, we knew you resided in the heavens before we even saw you—
Your gravity perturbing the track of your neighbor Saturn.
O, “self-forming actions, SFAs,” ground-works of “ultimate responsibility, UR”—free will—
We know you are there before we see you because we know what it is to be human.
We know our many choices that spring from our ease—“will-settled” says the philosopher.
We also know the choices we coaxed into actions that have left us marked—
“Will-setting” in contrast—referred to also as self-forming choices empowered by action
With the action building a habit which in turn builds a character—a self.
We yearn that the human mind has “alternative possibilities, APs,” but how?—
Maybe a dash of indeterminism that might even resist—forcing a build—perhaps—
Or a web of feedback loops with artfully contrived structures tipping dimensionality
That nevertheless result in a morally responsible self-control by means yet undelineated.
