Mr. Vargas Aligns with the Garden, and What of Mr. Fischer?
Revisionism finds free will in what nature reveals—calming the crew of the ship—
Eve sins in deception—deceived—Adam sins to stick to his wife—beset—
When their sin is found out they each make excuse—a snake and a wife to blame—
Adam accepts his long garment in sorrow—the matter of justice not questioned—
God remains God as he takes matters in hand—obliged not to answer to humans—
Thoughts of humans abide to accept what is seen—why ask what is not?
Compatibilism wants it all—to have its cake on its plate yet to have eaten it, too—
Not to be burdened to deny determinism—yet still to have freedom of choice—
Some say nature simply permits—some look on what we might have done instead—
Some say glitches happen—too tiny to count—to give freedom and determinism, too—
In yet another effort, some say we choose freely exactly what the brain allows—
Deep ones want free will so bad that they bend it to fit what they think it must be—
So bad that we wrestle with God—
Although God hides his face.
