Psalm H

Concern for a brother
who evidently sought help
from this system of things

“The minimal magic of whiskey,” as said by the poetess,
As he hears, reverberating in his brain,
The ancient oft-repeated magical refrain:
“One is too many and ten is not enough,”
Teases his innards with a magical mix
Of contention and servility, of awe and disquietude,
Of mortal fear of the power beyond all powers
If the magical refrain be true
Beclouding the magic of the wisdom
From above which if begotten in the soul
Has power to begird us in our beloved simplicity.
