The Sparrow

Dear Sparrowgwenhorsehairnestled,

My little one,
Watch you I,
Of wing your every flap,
Of food your every peck,
The sun you see above,
The moon to aid the owls,
And feel I Myself the moment
And to a past and a future the connection
Filling out the moment.

Your wonder please unfold
Wherein I joy—of My own hand the work—
One from among far fewer than the stars.
The stars name I so why not you?
As a gift given do you know you are?
My firstborn helped Me make
Your earliest begetters,
And in you he delights, as do I.
Glory in your precious term.
Your mate please find who sings his song just so.
Marvel at the eggs you lay. Raise your little chirpers.
Our good-bye in its time we will feel,
As you serve the future of your kind
With your life.

Signed,
Your Father of Tender Affection
