O My Soul

Howe’er it works—in the end of it all—we’ll all be happy or dead—
The Sovereign Lord Yahweh sheds a simple tear—heaven stands still—
The curtain has been torn—the holy place visits the holy-of-holies—
The spirits inhabit the airs—reside in the courtyard—by call take seats in the holy—
O my soul—take your place—wait in dirt—at behest when His eye comes upon you
Stand and speak—if asked—fall to obeisance if you do—
Do what you can—from a heart softened and molded—in love—
Respond to His love—His majestic triumph—quake if you cannot sit still—
The Sovereign Lord Yahweh roars—be silent—O my soul—
For yourself—for your love—for the awe that you feel—
Wait silent—the bush burning burns—feet bare on the ground—fear
To your bones—O soul—quake and shiver and wait—O my soul—
Yahweh hath something to say—
O my ears—O my bones—O my soul—
